What you need to know about Aerial Silks

No, really, what is Aerial Silks?

Aerial Silk is a performance art. You may have seen it in circus acts or on TV.

About the apparatus

We use a long piece of fabric that's attached by the middle from the ceiling or aerial rigs. This gives us 2 tails on which we can climb, hang upside down, and make different kinds of locks. We can make gorgeous shapes and even drops with a little practice.

So how does Aerial Silk help you? We're glad you asked!

You gain strength, flexibility, and confidence. You'll work out your entire body, from your legs, back, and abs, to your shoulders, arms, and hands.

It helps you become more conscious and intentional about how you move.

Do I need to be strong or flexible to join a class?

Absolutely not! We have students who have never done any kind of sport before and some who haven't done any for a very long time. Our classes are structured in such a way that you build strength and become more flexible while having fun. The only thing you do need is the courage to sign up for your first class.

Our Aerial Silk classes

So you have a beginner class?

Yes! We teach you all the necessary basics and help you gain strength over the course of 12 classes.

When can I join a beginner class?

You can join Beginner 1 classes anytime. Beginner 2 classes are for those who have completed Beginner 1.

If you don't see Beginner 1 classes in our schedule, you can send us a message. If there is enough interest we will add one. If not, you can join All Levels classes to catch up and join the group. Just make sure you pick classes where a teacher for your discipline is teaching.

What do I need to wear or bring?

  • Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely, ideally long leggings.

  • Do not wear any rings or bracelets on your hands and wrists. They can cause injuries and damage the apparatuses.

  • Bring a bottle of water, it's important to stay hydrated.

Here's everything else you need to know before joining us

What about other levels?

Yup! Unlike the Beginner module where we learn the basics step by step, Intermediate and Advanced classes have a bit of a different focus.

During these classes, we do more conditioning so can play longer on the silks. Also, throughout 6 classes, we learn a sequence or combination of moves that we can later use in performances.

And speaking of performances, we also offer a variety of events like photoshoots, workshops, and performance days to help you elevate your aerial skills.

How much does a class cost?

We have different types of memberships and payment options for every budget. Check out our Prices page to learn more.

I have more questions

However, some of them may have already been answered in our Classes FAQs or Pricing FAQs sections.
